ASSIGNMENT Create a figurine by combining two pinch pots and sculpt by using additive and subtractive techniques.

Prep: Art History and Vocabulary- 40 points Pinch pot checked off- 20 points Score and Slip Check off- 20 points Sketch- 20 points
Pinch Technique- a simple form of hand-made pottery produced from ancient times to the present.The process begins with a ball of clay. Thumbs are pushed into the center, and then rudimentary walls are created by pinching and turning the pot.
Score and Slip- refers to a method of joining two pieces of clay together. - First, score the clay; this means that you make scratches in the surfaces that will be sticking together. - Then you slip it; that is you wet the surface with some slip, using it like glue. - Next, you press the two pieces together.
Glaze- A glassy coating that has been melted onto a ceramic surface. It is used to decorate the piece and to seal the clay surfaces.

PINCH POT CHECK OFF Follow the instructions on the video and the printed version on your table to create a pinch pot. You must cut the pinch put in half and show it to Mrs Lawler in order for you to get your 50 points.
