A SOCIAL CONTRACT IS AN AGREEMENT ON HOW WE SHOULD BEHAVE IN CLASS!
Social contracts determine our behavior is almost everything we do... driving in our car, standing in lines, going shopping, eating!!!
1) How do you want to be treated by me? (Mrs. Lawler) 2) How do you want to be treated by each other? 3) How do you think I, Mrs. Lawler, want to be treated by you? 4) How do you want to treat each other when there is conflict? 5) How should you treat the materials in class that have been provided to you?
Some things bear repeating

This classroom is a unique space unlike any other on campus and has its own set of challenges.
How many of you get tired of your teachers nagging you and telling you what to do? This is YOUR classroom! So, you are going to decide how we treat each other. I will not be the policewoman unless I have to. We need to help each other so that we work as a team and make this classroom a safe place for all of us to have fun and make cool stuff!
SOME ADDITIONAL THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
What if you have homework that you need to get done from another class? How does the above impact other students? What if you need to use the restroom when Ms. Gray is introducing the next project? What if you get done with your project early? What if your project breaks? How does listening to Ms. Gray show respect for her and the class? What if your not feeling good a particular day, what should we do?
APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE
CASUAL LANGUAGE Is the language you use among friends and family. FORMAL LANGUAGE Is the language of the work/school world
*We will get very comfortable with each other in this class... What ever you say, check your surroundings and make sure that what you are saying is not disrespectful*
HOW WILL WE HANDLE VIOLATIONS OF THIS CONTRACT?
STEP ONE: Verbal Warning
STEP TWO: Think Sheet
STEP THREE: Asked to leave the classroom Referral to Office STEP FOUR: Detention Communication with Parent
